“Fictions of Social Repair” is an in-progress manuscript which draws onextensive fieldwork in the mountainscapes of Kashmir and its continuity with Northern Pakistan. It grapples with the afterlife of natural disasters and conflict and offers thought-provoking meditations on violence, flourishing, and Muslim lifeworlds. Confirmed respondents include Amira Mittermaier (Religion and Anthropology), Dina Georgis (Women and Gender Studies), and Dave Naisargi (Anthropology). Participants will also be encouraged to review pre-circulated draft chapters and provide feedback to the author. The participatory workshop hopes to create a lively and generative space and builds on the supposition that books are indeed written in community. It will be pertinent for those interested in Muslim lifeworlds in South Asia and beyond, and those curious about the book writing process itself.
