About the Discussion
In the aftermath of October 7, 2023, Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism have intensified across public, political, and institutional arenas on both sides of the Atlantic, unfolding alongside the ongoing genocide in Gaza. This public panel discussion brings together scholars working in different disciplinary contexts to discuss these developments comparatively and through a broader geopolitical lens. We examine how current dynamics draw on longer histories of colonialism, occupation, and racialized exclusions, and ask which language we can use to name and frame these forms of violence.
