Islamic Studies: Past, Present, and Futures Workshop – Winter 2023

Dear members of the Islamic Studies community at UofT,

It is our pleasure to announce the Winter 2023 Semester schedule for the Islamic Studies Past, Present, and Futures Workshop. All sessions will meet on Tuesdays at noon Eastern in a hybrid format: in-person at the IIS offices (fifth floor, Jackman Humanities Building) or on Zoom. Light lunch will be served.

The Winter 2023 schedule is as follows:

  • January 24: Nabeel Jafri, PhD Candidate, Department for the Study of Religion
  • February 7: Sadaf Ahmed, PhD Candidate, Department for the Study of Religion
  • February 28: Javad Fakhkhar Toosi, Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Historical Studies
  • April 4: Walid Saleh, Professor, Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations/Study of Religion
  • April 18: Noha Fikry Ismail, PhD Candidate, Anthropology

As in past semesters, we will send invitations to each session with brief abstracts one week prior to each session. Attendees should RSVP to receive the paper for reading prior to the workshop (and the link for those attending the session via Zoom).
