Islamic Art & Material Culture Collaborative (IAMCC)

Project Description
The Islamic Art and Material Culture Collaborative is a Toronto-based research collaboration between the IIS, the Aga Khan Museum (AKM), and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). IAMCC curates public events and fosters interdisciplinary research on Islamic art and material culture.

Importance of IAMCC
Despite hosting world-class institutions dedicated to Islamic art and material culture and featuring one of the most diverse populations in the world, Toronto has yet to be viewed as a destination for this field of study.
Objective
Leverage the institutional capacities and cultural significance of the UofT, AKM, and ROM to cultivate a global hub on Islamic art and material culture in Canada.
Status
Throughout 2023-24 IAMCC will continue to host programming in the form of masterclasses, distinguished public lectures, and student fellowships.
